St. John's Sonic Splendor


Philip HahnPhilip Hahn was Organist/Director of Music at St. John's Episcopal Church and was the Executive Director of the Friends of Music, the church's concert series. He also was immediate Past-President of the American Guild of Organists, a professional association of some 22,000 members nationwide. He has concertized extensively in both the United States and Europe.

Dr. Hahn holds the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Michigan, where he studied organ with Marilyn Mason and Robert Noehren. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at American Conservatory in Chicago with a double major in organ performance and composition. His doctoral work was with Stella Roberts and Robert Lodine. Further study was taken in France with Nadia Boulanger and André Marchal. He held certificates in organ performance, solfeggio, and composition from the Conservatoire Américain in Fontainebleau.
