St. Kevin's Catholic Church

Located in the outer Mission District of San Francisco, St. Kevin's Parish was established in November, 1922. The first Mass in the new church building, located at 704 Cortland Avenue, was celebrated on Christmas night of 1924. Constructed of concrete and steel, it reflects Spanish-Romanesque architecture, and has a seating capacity of 450. Over the years, the interior of the church has been renovated with new lighter wood pews, altar rail, lecterns, and main altar. Just as the the interior of the church has changed over the years, so has the makeup of the Parish. What was once a parish serving less than 400 families of the Italian and Irish communities, it has evolved into an inner-city church that serves more than 1,000 parishioners, mostly from the Latino and Filipino communities. St. Kevin's Church continues to be an integral part of the life of its neighborhood and of its members.

St. Kevin's new organ is an Allen Protégé Model AP-6 with an MDS Expander II tone module which adds 100 organ/orchestral voices to the specification.   The organist delights the congregation with many and varied uses of the organ as an accompaniment to the liturgy, for congregational singing, and as a solo instrument.
